Cuban President Invites PM Hun Manet to G-77 Summit in September

HAVANA: New Prime Minister Hun Manet has a busy schedule ahead in his first months as Cambodia’s Head of State. Within his first two months, he has been invited to China, Cuba and the US for various summits. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez invited Prime Minister Hun Manet to attend the G-77 Plus-China Summit in Havana, Cuba on September 15-16.

The Group of 77 at the United Nations is the largest inter-governmental organization of developing states. It is a coalition of 134 developing countries, designed to promote its members' collective economic interests and create an enhanced joint negotiating capacity in the United Nations. This year’s summit will be held under the theme "Current Development Challenges: The Role of Science, Technology and Innovation.”

The Cuban president wrote, "It would be a great honor to receive you in Cuba, and count on your valuable presence and active contribution at this important summit.” Prime Minister Hun Manet has already announced his intention to attend the UN General Assembly in New York later that month and it is not clear if he will be stopping over in Cuba first.
